A perfect example of language change
The "star of the show" of this blog is the word "queer". As my dictionary confirms, it traditionally carries a meaning of "odd" / "strange" / "whimsical". But I think we all know by now that it is used a lot more often these days as a derogatory term in reference to homosexual males (or it may be an adjective meaning "homosexual" in much the same way). But given how much sex and considerations thereof are a part of our lives - no-one needs reminding of that - it's only a matter of time before "queer" starts to carry only the "homosexual" connotation, you know.
